Foundations of Psychology

Length: 3 sessions       Program Cost: $195 ($65/session)

This program explores the effects of persistent pain on individuals and relationships.

Foundations of Psychology helps you explore:

  • How your pain has changed your daily life
  • How pain has affected your emotions, relationships and behavior
  • How pain might have forced you into becoming a different person
  • How to be aware of which parts of your former self you have lost, and which parts you haven’t lost
  • The importance of acknowledging the changes caused by pain
  • How to find your way back to your own identity.

Facilitators:  Dr. Judy LePage or Dr. Tony LePage, Registered Psychologists

You should go if...

  • You want to understand the how pain affects your mood and how your mood affects your pain.
  • You think you are becoming anxious or depressed as a result of your pain or other reasons
  • You are noticing that your relationships are becoming more difficult because of your pain
  • Your provider recommends it
 

Psychology to CHANGEpain: Anxiety

Length: 4 sessions  Program Cost: $275 ($69/session) 

This four session group (75 minutes/session) will help explain the relationship between persistent pain, anxiety, and mood, and how to manage, and potentially prevent these issues.

Students will learn: 

  • The connection between pain, anxiety, and depression
  • The effect that anxiety has on pain
  • How to know when anxiety is a problem
  • What to do to deal with anxiety
  • How to prevent anxiety from being a problem in the first place

Length: 4 sessions  Program Cost: $275 ($69/session) 

This four session group (75 minutes/session) will help explain the relationship between persistent pain, anxiety, and mood, and how to manage, and potentially prevent these issues.

Students will learn: 

  • The connection between pain, anxiety, and depression
  • The effect that mood has on pain
  • How to know when depression is a problem
  • What to do to deal with depression
  • How to prevent depression from being a problem in the first place

Length: 4 sessions   Program Cost: $275 ($69/session) 

This four session group module (75 minutes/session) will discuss the impact that pain can have on relationships and how you can manage that impact.

You will learn: 

  • Ways pain can impact spousal, familial, and close relationships
  • Gender & personality differences in pain management
  • How to manage pain and maintain close relationships
  • Intimacy issues and pain

Psychology to CHANGEpain: Claims and Litigation

Length: 4 sessions   Program Cost: $275 ($69/session) 

This four-week group module (75 minutes/session) will explore the effects of persistent pain while involved in a claims or litigation process.

You will learn about:

  • The nature of claims with employers, insurance companies, ICBC, and WorkSafe.
  • Pain, functioning, and the determination of disability.
  • The role of medical, emotional, and functional assessments and how to navigate them.
  • Your role and expectations in the context of a claims and rehabilitation process.
