Sarah Borthwick BSc, MOT, PgCPain
Sarah is an occupational therapist who is passionate about working with people in pain to help them achieve their goals and increase their quality of life. She completed a B.Sc. in Honours Psychology at the University of Victoria, a Master of Occupational Therapy at UBC, and recently completed an 18 month intensive Graduate Certificate in Pain Management for health professionals through the University of Alberta. She also has training in Motivational Interviewing and Brief Action Planning.
Sarah has a unique perspective as she also lives with chronic pain; through experiencing the challenges of this and frustrations in accessing comprehensive care and rehabilitation, she developed a professional interest in working in this area to improve it for others. She strives to integrate her personal and professional expertise to work collaboratively with clients in all areas of their life including self-care, work, and leisure. She strongly believes that individuals can still have an excellent quality of life despite living with some pain.
In addition, Sarah works as an OT at Burnaby Hospital in the Inflammatory Arthritis outpatient clinic. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, experimenting with recipes in the kitchen, and exploring the outdoors!
