Kathy Burnie RN

Kathy joined the CHANGEpain Pain Infusion Therapy team in early 2016.  She is an RN CEN and CCRN. Kathy has more than 35 years of experience in the fields of emergency and critical care nursing with a strong focus on cardiac surgery. Just recently she has taken a position as an Access Triage Nurse with the ICED program for Fraser Health.

Kathy is fascinated by the brain’s ability to change itself. She believes that retraining the brain to manage or eliminate pain using a multifaceted approach is such a valuable service to patients. In her years of work she has seen many individuals dealing with pain and notes that she has had some experience with chronic pain herself.

Pain has become a debilitating issue and Kathy is excited to be involved in an innovative program that takes such a broad approach to its management. Kathy likes to think outside the box and consider all possibilities. “Nothing to be done” and “never” are words Kathy chooses to exclude from her vocabulary.

Kathy is an avid reader, dog walker, addicted knitter and traveler. She lives with her husband and two crazy brittany spaniels, Jake and Emma.
